::The two day trek to Maragua Crater and the dinosaur footprints was exceptional. Zulma was our guide and her knowledge of Inca history, local traditions, Bolivian history, medicinal plants, the theories of how the crater was formed and the Dinosaur footprints was detailed and yet easy to understand. Zulma has a depth of knowledge and a great understanding of trekking skills such as pacing, food and water intake, physical demands and rest periods. I would highly recommend Zulma! The trek started at 3600m about an hours drive out of Sucre. The descent down Inca style steps and paths is interesting and would be very challenging in the rainy season. This is followed by a river bed walk which has many varying rock formations. The hardest part is the ascent into the crater which brings you back up to almost 3000m. The nights lodgings is basic but warm and comfortable. The trek the next day to see the dinosaur footprints is more than worth it! With 4 species footprints and clear tracks across the slab it is a breathtaking view! To be able to sit next to 65 million year old dinosaur footprints is truly incredible! A further hours walk takes you to a waiting 4x4 to have lunch and then begin the picturesque drive back to Sucre. Joy Ride tourism were informative, professional and accommodating in every aspect of this trip!
