  Booked the koala mine tour and it was brilliant and I would definitely recommend it! It cost 120 Bs and started at about 8:30ish - 1:30pm. First we went to get kitted out in overalls, trousers, a jacket, helmet and head torch. Then we went to the local miners market where we bought a few gifts for the miners like juice and dynamite (which were so appreciated by them!!). We then headed to the mines, I can’t quite describe how other-worldly it was. Long dark tunnels you walk down and see lots of different minerals on the walls and we saw a silver vein that the miners were following. It definitely helps to be short for this experience! There were a few bits you had to climb down/ over and one part you had to crawl to fit through these gaps so I would not recommend if you are claustrophobic. However there were two guides with us so if you felt unsure or unsafe you could wait back with one of the guides which a few people in our group did. This experience made me appreciate the epic work that miners do and I would say if you are in Potosi you MUST do this!!

  We made a tour with the guide Ronald . That was unforgetable! Ronald speaks good English and worked in the mines of Potosi before he became a tour guide, so he could answer all the questions we asked. The Team of Koala tours helped us during the tour, and it is very important to know, that you have specialists around you in such not the safest excursion.

  I booked the mine tour in 2007. It was well organized and complete. If you are with an adventurous group, you might have the chance to go way deep into the mine.
